UNTITLED
by Simple Plan

I open my eyes
I try to see but I'm blinded
By the white light
I can't remember how
I can't remember why
I'm lying here tonight

And I can't stand the pain
And I can't make it go away
No I can't stand the pain

How could this happen to me?
I made my mistakes
Got no where to run
The night goes on
As I'm fading away
I'm sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me?

Everybody's screaming
I try to make a sound
But no one hears me
I'm slipping off the edge
I'm hanging by a thread
I wanna start this over again
So I try to hold onto
A time when nothing mattered
And I can't explain what happened
And I can't erase the things that I've done
No I can't

How could this happen to me?
I made my mistakes
Got no where to run
The night goes on
As I'm fading away
I'm sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me?

I've made my mistakes
Got no where to run
The night goes on
As I'm fading away
I'm sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me?

TITLE NO.17 FOR SAN MIGUEL BEER

EVEN if they found the early goings hard, and appeared to struggle through the first three quarters, the San Miguel Beermen were still full of hope.
Hope that Olsen Racela could deliver when it matters most, hope that Danny Ildefonso can hit a big-time basket reminiscent of Game Two, hope that Talk ‘N Text will eventually fold.

All those came into reality, to the dot.

The San Miguel Beermen finally snapped four long years of waiting in winning another crown in the Philippine Basketball Association, outlasting the Phone Pals in a wild, tense match, 91-87, for the Gran Matador Fiesta Conference title Sunday night at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Racela applied the end-game touches that totally spelled death for the Phone Pals, his heroics coming as a fitting follow-up to an array of impressive efforts started off by import Ace Custis and then sustained by Ildefonso in a gripping see-sawing battle coming home.

The triumph was molded against a team that was healthy down to its last reserve, a ballclub made even more powerful by the return of Asi Taulava, the franchise player, and an import that was again adjudged as the conference’s best.

But faced with those obstacles, the Beermen showed that all can be buried into oblivion by a squad that hungers more for a title.

“It only goes to show that the players wanted to win more,” said winning coach Jong Uichico, who claimed his sixth crown as head coach of San Miguel Beer, moving alongside Tommy Manotoc as the fourth winningest mentor in the history of the league.

“It doesn’t matter how many championships you win, it’s the effort that counts,” Uichico added.

It was the 17th franchise crown for San Miguel, and it took plenty of pains and struggles for the Beermen to reach the pinnacle once more.

Although they went into the game holding a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, the mere thought of closing the Finals seemed unlikely when the Phone Pals looked poise to extending the series.

Talk ‘N Text didn’t get another big game from Willie Miller (seven points), Jimmy Alapag (nine points) and Mark Telan (eight points), but was relatively in control when it held a 66-61 advantage going into the final period.

            Then, all hell broke loose.

Custis hit two booming three-pointers and Ildefonso, chosen Finals MVP by the PBA Press Corps, added one in a game-turning 11-0 run as the Beermen stormed ahead 72-66.

It was only when Alapag knocked down a triple that Talk ‘N Text seized the lead again at 85-84. But the Phone Pals would yield the advantage once more on a quick basket by Dorian Pena. Honeycutt retaliated, but Ildefonso completed his fourth-quarter brilliance by scoring on his patented semi-hook with 22 seconds to go, 88-87.

The Phone Pals had 22 full seconds to get back the advantage, but Racela anticipated an Alapag pass to Miller, and was fouled for two gift shots that he converted, 90-87.

Honeycutt then launched an ill-advised three-point shot just after an inbounds pass and with still 12 seconds remaining. His attempt was way off the mark, the ball landing on Pena’s hands.

Despite getting no double-figure output from any of its players, the Phone Pals took the first half 42-40 primarily due to mini-runs in each quarter. Talk ‘N Text led by nine, 35-26, when Felix Belano answered a three-point shot by Danny Seigle with his own trey halfway through the first half.

But the Phone Pals would not score when the Beermen made a rally, coming to within 35-37 and even leveled the count at 40-40 on a split by Danny Ildefonso. (ZM)

             The scores:

            San Miguel (91) – Custis 22, Hontiveros 15, Seigle 15, Pena 15, Ildefonso 12, Racela 8, Adriano 4, Villoria 0, Belasco 0.

            Talk ‘N Text (87) – Honeycutt 22, Pablo 10, Belano 10, Taulava 9, Alapag 9, Telan 8, Miller 7, Carey 6, Ravena 4, Fran 2, Gelig 0, Camaso 0.

            Quarterscores: 21-25; 40-42; 61-66; 91-87.

Here's a song that I can relate so much in the past ...
I could have sung this one for her.

Broken Sonnet by Hale

And now I concede
On the night of this fifteenth song
Of melancholy, of melancholy
And in this next line
I’ll say it all over again
That I love you, I love you.
I don’t care what they say
I don’t care what they do
‘Cause tonight I’ll leave my fears behind
‘Cause tonight I’ll be right at your side.

Lie down right next to me
Lie down right next to me
And I will never let go
Will never let go.

The clock on the TV says 8:39 PM
It’s the same, it’s the same
And in this next line
I’ll say it all over again
That I love you, I love you.

I don’t care what they say
I don’t care what they do
‘Cause tonight I’ll leave my fears behind
‘Cause tonight I’ll be right at your side.

Lie down right next to me
Lie down right next to me
And I will never let go
Will never let go.

I’ll leave my fears behind
‘Cause tonight I’ll be right at your side.

Lie down right next to me
Lie down right next to me
And I will never let go
Will never let go.

But still I see the tears from your eyes
MAYBE I’M JUST NOT THE ONE FOR YOU.
